1. About This Experience

The Butterfly Effect ("the Experience") is an AI-powered narrative fiction game operated as part of the Sloppy Stories suite. By using the Experience you agree to these terms. If you disagree, please close the tab. Every choice ripples.

2. Age Requirement

You must be at least 16 years old to use this Experience. The Experience contains AI-generated content that may include mature themes, loss, hardship, mortality, and philosophical ideas that are not appropriate for younger audiences.

By continuing you confirm that you are 16 or older.

3. Use of the Experience

• The Experience is provided for entertainment and creative exploration purposes only.
• You may not attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or automate interactions with the Experience.
• You may not use the Experience to generate or distribute content that is unlawful or harassing toward real people.
• Do not enter real personal information (your own or others') into character name or description fields.
• Story threads are part of a shared world. Once woven, a thread persists for other visitors to read.

4. AI-Generated Content

The Experience uses large language models (OpenAI GPT) and image generation models (Replicate / Flux) to create story content dynamically. Generated content may include dark, melancholy, or mature themes appropriate to literary fiction.

We do not guarantee the accuracy, quality, or consistency of AI-generated content. The AI may produce outcomes that are unexpected or tragic. That is the nature of the butterfly effect.

5. Third-Party AI Providers

Story text is generated via the OpenAI API and images via Replicate. The character description and life circumstances you provide are included in prompts sent to OpenAI. Do not include personal information, real people's names in a harmful context, or confidential data in character or story fields. These providers have their own terms and privacy policies.

6. The Shared Story World

Stories you create become part of the shared tapestry of The Butterfly Effect. Other visitors may read and continue threads you have started. Story data is retained as part of the game world. The Experience is designed with the philosophy that every choice is permanent — this is intentional and part of the artistic concept.

7. Intellectual Property

The Butterfly Effect concept, game mechanics, and site design are proprietary. AI-generated narrative and image content produced during play is generated uniquely and is not claimed as our exclusive intellectual property, but we reserve the right to store and display it as part of the shared story world.

8. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

The Experience is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any emotional response to AI-generated narrative outcomes. Lives may end badly. Fate is not guaranteed to be kind.

We reserve the right to reset, modify, or shut down the Experience at any time without notice.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms at any time. Continued use constitutes acceptance of the current terms.
